He was founding director of jazz programs at the University of Victoria, Camosun College and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. In 2018 he retired as Senior School Director of Concert and Jazz Bands at St. Michaels University School. He has performed on numerous recordings and released eight of his own on the international market. He has shared the stage as a jazz soloist with many of Canada’s top musicians. In classical performance, Mr. Clements is well known for his bass clarinet and saxophone work with the Victoria Symphony. He has been a clinician for Keilwerth Saxophones and Buffet Crampon Clarinets and in 2009 was inducted into the Victoria Music Hall of Fame.

john lee trio in the fathom loungeRaised in Nanaimo, BC, John Lee is a multi-instrumentalist and one of Canada’s most acclaimed jazz artists. A protégé of Phil Dwyer and Ingrid Jensen, he made his U.S. debut at 19 with pianist Cyrus Chestnut at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Since then, Lee has become a fixture in the Canadian jazz scene, sharing the stage with Eric Alexander, Joe Farnsworth, Peter Bernstein, and more. In 2021, with Cellar Music Group, he released his debut album The Artist, featuring legendary drummer Carl Allen.

pablo cardenas in the fathom loungePablo Cardenas is a Cuban Jazz pianist, composer, music educator and arranger with different influences like Afro-Cuban, Latin jazz, Jazz Fusion, Modern Jazz, Classical and more. He studied classical performance at the Superior Institute of Arts in Havana, Cuba. Since the 2000s he has been performing in music festivals in Havana and internationally. He has been residing in Canada since 2011 where he created different music projects as The West Coast Cuban All Stars, The Latin Jazz Combo and his Modern Jazz Trio, contributing for the developing of the Latin and jazz scene in the area, performing at the most important venues and festivals around, and collaborating with accomplished musicians.

david santana in the fathom loungeThe David Santana trio is a fiery and dynamic jazz ensemble led by David Santana, a Chilean-born, Canadian jazz guitarist and composer. Winner of the Chilean national electric guitar competition Solo para Bravos (2006), David has become a prominent voice in Canada’s jazz scene, performing regularly at top venues and festivals including the Victoria International Jazz Festival, Frankie’s Jazz Club, Hermann’s Jazz Club, and the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival, among others.

alex ferguson in the fathom loungeAlexander Ferguson is a singer, keyboardist, songwriter, and a two time Leo Award nominated composer. Hailing from Victoria, B.C., he is a founding member, singer, and keyboardist for both the Alexander Ferguson Trio and the soul/pop band Impulse Response. He also plays keyboards and sings with the R&B band, The Soul Shakers. He has played all over Victoria and Vancouver Island and beyond at such venues as The Rose, Bard & Banker, Irish Times, Bartholomew's, Canoe Club, Vis-a-Vis, Guilt & Co, The Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, The Nanaimo Summertime Blues Festival, The Oak Bay Tea Party, Victoria Roots & Blues Bash, and The TD International Victoria Jazz Festival (including opening for St. Paul & the Broken Bones with Impulse Response at The Royal Theatre).
