Spinning live each week is DJ Primitive, a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest music scene since 2000. Known for his rich musical vocabulary and deep-rooted community connections, Primitive blends funk, soul, Latin, boogie, house, rock, and jazz into sets that are both timeless and forward-thinking. His technical skill and curatorial instinct create a seamless listening experience—each track telling a story, every beat building the atmosphere.

A classical and jazz performer on clarinet, saxophone, and flute, Mr. Clements has also enjoyed a long career as a conductor, composer, educator and clinician. He was founding director of jazz programs at the University of Victoria, Camosun College and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. In 2018 he retired as Senior School Director of Concert and Jazz Bands at St. Michaels University School. He has performed on numerous recordings and released eight of his own on the international market. He has shared the stage as a jazz soloist with many of Canada’s top musicians. In classical performance, Mr. Clements is well known for his bass clarinet and saxophone work with the Victoria Symphony. He has been a clinician for Keilwerth Saxophones and Buffet Crampon Clarinets and in 2009 was inducted into the Victoria Music Hall of Fame.

adonis puentes in the fathom lounge
Adonis Puentes, born into an atmosphere charged with Cuban sounds, was drawn to music at a young age, by his father’s guitar playing and growing up in a house across the street from his hometown of Artemisa’s Cultural Centre. At the age of 6 Adonis joined a Children’s Guitar Ensemble formed by his father, Valentin, and by the time he was 14 he was singing and writing his own music. In 1998 Adonis moved to Canada where he continues to compose, sing and perform internationally, staying true to his Cuban Roots with a contemporary feeling. Adonis is a Juno, Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated Artist, proud to present his music and culture to the world.

john lee trio in the fathom lounge
Raised in Nanaimo, BC, John Lee is a multi-instrumentalist and one of Canada’s most acclaimed jazz artists. A protégé of Phil Dwyer and Ingrid Jensen, he made his U.S. debut at 19 with pianist Cyrus Chestnut at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Since then, Lee has become a fixture in the Canadian jazz scene, sharing the stage with Eric Alexander, Joe Farnsworth, Peter Bernstein, and more. In 2021, with Cellar Music Group, he released his debut album The Artist, featuring legendary drummer Carl Allen.
